With the increase in air temperature in Turkey, there is an increase in tick bite cases. Stating that the probability of contracting CCHF disease, which can result in death if the necessary intervention is not made, is high, CU Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital Emergency Medicine Department Head Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sebe pointed out that this situation has been seen since February with the effect of global warming. prof. Dr. Sebe emphasized that people who deal with animal husbandry, veterinarians and trekkers should constantly check their bodies.
THEY BURN WITH LIGHTERS
Stating that citizens should not try to remove the tick stuck on their bodies by their own means, Prof. Dr. Stating that this situation causes the vomit of the infected tick to mix with the skin, Sebe said, “There are those who try to remove the tick with a lighter or Japanese glue. They try to pour the glue on the tick and try to remove it from the skin. This situation both damages the skin and causes infection. With those who try to burn the tick on the skin with a lighter. We do not recommend this and similar methods. As a result of unconscious interventions, the vomit of the infected tick mixes with the skin. This situation, which causes poisoning and serious infections, also delays the treatment. The tick must be removed under the control of a physician. If the tick carries the ‘Crimean Congo’ microbe, fever, weakness bloody urine, bruising and bleeding occur in the body,” he said.
ATTENTION TO THE ‘TWO BLEEDING TOOTH PRINT’ APPEARANCE
Noting that each of the tick, scorpion and snake poisoning cases, at least 200 patients apply to the emergency department every year. Dr. Prof. Sebe underlined that these lead to situations that can result in death. Dr. Sebe said, “Especially in poisonous snake bites, ‘two bleeding teeth’ marks are seen on the body. In this case, interventions such as cutting and sucking should be avoided and the patient should be brought to the hospital in an inactive state. “As for scorpion poisonings, 3-4 cases started to come in a day as of last week. These patients experience symptoms such as double vision, severe pain at the bite site, and numbness.” (DHA)
