According to the news of the Greek State Agency AMNA, the plane was carrying “dangerous material”. Therefore, the authorities requested that all firefighters and first aid crews move away from the scene in the Palaiohoriou area of Kavala, where the plane crashed on Saturday night.
A team of explosives experts, on the other hand, determined how dangerous the cargo carried by the aircraft was and took action towards the scene to decide on the measures to be taken.
PILOT REPORTS ENGINE FAULT
The pilot reported that the plane’s engine was faulty and requested an emergency landing permit, but before it could reach the airport, the engine caught fire in the air and the plane crashed into a residential area in Kavala.
The plane, which belongs to a Ukrainian company, was carrying cargo from Serbia to Jordan.
Eyewitnesses reported that immediately after the crash of the plane, many explosions were heard and the fire started.
THE AIRCRAFT HAS 8 CREW
In the area where the accident took place, there is the smell of burning fuel and dense smoke.
It is estimated that there were eight crew members on board.
