The accident happened near the small town of Paleochori Kavala in the region of Macedonia, Greek media report. According to local authorities, fifteen firefighters and seven fire vehicles were sent to the scene.
The plane is said to have been on its way from Serbia to Jordan and had requested an emergency landing near the city, but did not make it all the way. State television channel ERT reports that this is a Ukrainian Antonov plane.
