Women get completely different types of injuries than men and are twice as likely to suffer whiplash injuries after car accidents. The differences are explained by the fact that the development of female crash dolls is downgraded by the industry. No crash dolls that correspond to the average woman are used to develop car safety today.
Big consequences
A new study of 70,000 patients, conducted by researchers at Plymouth University Hospital, shows that women are almost twice as likely to get stuck in a motor vehicle after a traffic accident. Women also get completely different kinds of injuries than men. And although men are more often involved in more serious traffic accidents, women suffer injuries to the pelvis, spine and neck. These injuries can make it difficult to get out of the car and lead to disability.
– It is important to get out of the car to be able to be taken to hospital, to receive care or avoid a dangerous traffic situation, says Tony Gunnarsson, traffic safety expert.
