The Swedish Public Health Agency is investigating a suspected data breach in the national vaccine register. “We take this very seriously,” said department head Lisa Brouwers.

According to the Swedish Public Health Agency (FHM), data on 800 people under the age of 12 who have been vaccinated against covid-19 have been leaked online.

– We take this very seriously. We are now investigating the incident, in collaboration with other authorities, to find out what has happened, says Lisa Brouwers, head of department at the Swedish Public Health Agency in a press release.

The incident has been reported

According to FHM, information on both the date of vaccination, vaccine type and parts of social security numbers must be included. FHM writes in the press release that the information comes from the National Vaccination Register (NVR). The incident has been reported to the police and the Privacy Protection Authority.

– Right now, and as long as there is pre-trial secrecy, we can not say much more than that information has been disseminated incorrectly. We handle the incident quickly and with very high priority, says Lisa Brouwers.
