A member of the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise, known for her commitment and passion for community service work, has been presented with a Paul Harris Fellow.
Bettyann Carty, who joined the club in 2006, has worked on projects such as Breakfast with Santa, a free community meal for families in the community, and the delivery of gift bags and a warm meal to residents of Indwell on New Year’s Day.
“Bettyann’s positivity and drive are endless and the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise is proud to recognize her as a club member,” said a media release.
Carty has also spearheaded the annual Coats for Kids program that distributes winter coats to children in need.
“Bettyann doesn’t just work on the community service side of the club’s work, she also helps to fundraise the dollars required for the community service projects,” said the release, calling her one of the club’s biggest sellers of Catch the Ace tickets.
Her volunteerism goes beyond the Rotary Club. Carty has been a volunteer for more than eight years at Norfolk General Hospital and as allowed continued to do so during the pandemic. She also assisted with the Terry Fox Run.
Paul Harris Fellows are one of the highest honors presented by Rotary Clubs.
