Twitter finally allows you to exit a conversation in which you are mentioned

A new feature allows you to remove mentions about you in conversations. The operation is simple and blocks future mentions in the conversation, as well as notifications. On the other hand, it is irreversible.

Twitter is gradually rolling out a feature to all of its users that gives you more control over the use of your name in other people’s tweets. If a message mentions you (using the @ symbol before your username), you now have the option to leave the conversation, as shown in the tweet below (click on the Gif image to see an example of the procedure).

Sometimes you want to see yourself out.

The principle is simple: in the tweet that mentions you, touch or click on the menu icon with the three small dots, then select Leave the conversation in the available options. Select again To leave to confirm your choice. The link to your pseudonym then becomes hidden, without other users receiving any notification. This also blocks future mentions in the conversation and subsequent notifications. Note that it is not possible to go back if you have chosen not to be mentioned in a conversation. You can also consult all the mentions concerning you by going to the section Notifications then choosing the option Mentions.

Twitter had started experimenting with this feature on a small group of users in April. The rollout is gradual, so it may take some time for it to be available on your account.
