Police and rescue services were alerted to the apartment shortly after 6 pm on Monday evening and then found the man dead in the home. Relatives have been notified.
The cause of the fire is unclear, but according to the police, there are circumstances at the scene that make it impossible to rule out crime. A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated arson.
The police have taken a number of investigative measures at the site and the apartment is cordoned off pending a technical investigation.
