Good news ! WhatsApp has listened to its users and is currently working on a new function allowing the use of the same account on several Android smartphones, all while synchronizing messages.
Surely you know it: so far, you can only use a WhatsApp account on one smartphone – or on a phone and a computer. Indeed, WhatsApp users must link their phone number to an account in order to use the application. However, this is not very practical for those who have two smartphones – and therefore two different telephone numbers – but wish to keep a single WhatsApp account, bringing together all their contacts and all their conversations. And many have long dreamed of having a single account for all their devices. The Meta group – which owns Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp – seems to have heard the request from users and is currently developing a function to use the same account on several phones.
Synchronization of WhatsApp messages between two mobiles
According to WABetaInfo, a site specializing in WhatsApp updates, Meta would indeed work on a Companion mode, which would allow users to link several Android smartphones to the same WhatsApp account, without the need for an active Internet connection on the primary device for sending messages. A function that already exists between a phone and a PC or a tablet, but not with another smartphone. Even better, Meta also works on syncing chat history between mobile devices. Note, however, that it may take some time depending on the amount of messages. The web version already has this problem, which displays the following message: “chats are still syncing, old messages are temporarily unavailable.“
This feature is still under development, and no release date has yet been announced. WhatsApp intends to remain more attractive than its competitors Telegram – which has just unveiled a paid offer with many additional functions – and Signal. The instant messenger has already announced that it is working on the ability to edit a message after it has been sent, and recently added new privacy options, the arrival of reactions, large file sharing, and expanded call and voicemail options. .
