Launched in 2015 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the e-commerce giant, this special operation was extended to two days following its success. The opportunity to buy high-tech products or articles for the home with substantial reductions, sometimes going up to more than 50%. And it’s not always low-end or unsold: every year, we find reference and successful products signed by major brands, such as Samsung, Apple, Philips, LG, Xiaomi or Sony, to name a few. to name just a few in electronics (but also Bosch, Rowenta, Lego, Puma, Pampers and Oral-B in other areas). As the name suggests, this operation is reserved for Prime subscribers. But it is possible to take advantage of it thanks to the service’s free trial offer.
Prime Day: discounts for Amazon Prime subscribers

The service also integrates a video on demand platform (Amazon Prime Video), similar to Netflix or Disney+, with films, series and other programs. But Amazon Prime also gives access to Prime Music, an audio streaming service with two million music titles available offline, and Prime Reading, which gives access to many books in digital format. And of course, there is Prime Gaming which, on Prime Day, offers subscribers thirty free PC games!
Officially, Operation Prime Day begins this Tuesday, July 12 at 12:00 a.m. and ends on July 13 at midnight. In fact, some products are already on sale.
Prime Day 2022: watch out for phishing scams!
Be very vigilant during Prime Day: scammers take advantage of this period of promotions to scam Internet users, pretending to be Amazon customer service. Often, this is an email to “inform” you that “one of the orders has been cancelled” or that you have made a purchase without knowing it. The email is accompanied by an alleged invoice as an attachment. In reality, it is a file infected with malware capable of sucking up your personal and banking data. Furthermore, the site TechradarPro also warns against emails asking to “update Amazon billing data”. The message is accompanied by a link to a fake page similar to that of the Amazon site, the goal being to recover your personal and banking data… Classic, but effective phishing techniques, which always cause victims (see our practical sheet on phishing).
The rule is simple: never click on a link in an email if you are not absolutely sure of the sender, especially if it is a question of purchase or money! In general, it is best to log into your Amazon customer account on the site or via the mobile application to check your orders. If in doubt, you can always contact customer service for confirmation.
