As an MMO, Diablo Immortal relies heavily on social interaction. But what happens when rogue players have too much power shows a story from the community. Fans call it “the greatest heist of all time” (in Diablo).

What was that theft? During the faction war between shadows and immortals, the leader of the immortals allegedly robbed his entire clan on a US server. Several players shared this on reddit.

Every Sunday takes place the Rite of Exile, the grand showdown of Diablo Immortal. Over the course of the week, both Shadows and Immortals accumulate power and rewards. At the end, the immortals receive a reward based on their contribution. In another thread on reddit, a player shared a screenshot with this week’s rewards:

This reward is usually divided among all participants. However, just prior to the event, the current head of the guild, the “Immortal” himself, kicked out all members of his clan except for one friend. The result: the two lost the rite, but were able to collect all the rewards for themselves.

Immortal Allegedly Steals Everything, Fans Demand Rules

How did this even come about? As reddit user Senior_Discount939 explains, all of this was only possible with the change in clan leadership. The original leader had to resign due to personal problems and appointed another leader.

This should only be a temporary solution, but the clan leaders can only be changed every 14 days. After the deadline, the appropriate immortal who allegedly committed the robbery was selected.

According to players, this is pretty unbearable and toxic, and even received chat bans. After a dispute, he then broke off contact and finally removed all members. He is said to have even received money from a competing shadow clan for it.

What players say about it: Many agree that this should not be possible. There is a lack of safety nets against bad behavior of this kind, which regulate what a clan leader is allowed to do and what not. Currently, leaders in their clan are, in a sense, omnipotent.

Whether this is realistic is difficult to say. In many MMOs, the clan bosses have absolute rights. In New World, for example, a player stole from his guild and then simply switched factions.

However, the mood at Diablo Immortal is already tense at the moment. After the 1st major content update, many games are disappointed. There is no incentive to play again and again. But there might be a fix here:
