A car with five people overturned and caught fire outside Pajala early on Saturday morning. Three people died in connection with the accident and two were injured.
The road where the accident occurred was kept completely closed in the morning and partly in the afternoon while investigations were carried out.
The injured people are being cared for in hospital. One is said to have minor injuries, the other serious but not life-threatening. Relatives of those who traveled in the car have been notified.
