On Saturday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Bali, Indonesia.

– When it comes to a relationship as complex and significant as the one between the USA and China, there is a lot to talk about, Blinken says at a joint appearance with Wang before the meeting.

– We are very much looking forward to a productive and constructive conversation.

Wang says Chinese President Xi Jinping believes in both cooperation and “mutual respect” between the world’s two largest economies.

– It is necessary to have a normal exchange. At the same time, we must work together to ensure that this relationship continues on the right track, he says.

The meeting takes place the day after the G20 summit in Indonesia and is their first since October.

The agenda includes everything from customs and trade to human rights and Taiwan.
