Turkey Point cottage, trailer fire under investigation

Turkey Point cottage trailer fire under investigation

Police and fire officials are investigating an early morning fire that damaged a cottage and trailer at a Turkey Point on Friday.

Shortly after 4 am, Norfolk OPP, firefighters and emergency services responded to reports of a structure fire on Landon Street in the lakeside community.

Firefighters arriving on the scene were able to battle the blaze and prevent it from spreading to a nearby cottage, West Region OPP Acting Sgt Ed Sanchuk said on social media.

“The good new here is that there were no injuries to report,” said Sanchuk. “They were able to save that cottage. And I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the Good Samaritans that contacted 911 to report this fire.”

Officials are continuing to investigate circumstances surrounding the fire, said Sanchuk.

Police ask anyone on Cedar Drive in Turkey Point with video surveillance systems that may have captured a vehicle coming into Turkey Point or leaving Turkey Point between 3 am and 4:30 am to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
