Utrecht started the battle with Lightning Leiden on the field of the Amsterdam Crusaders. Both teams managed to qualify after blood-curdling semi-finals, and had only met each other once in the regular season. That game the Dominators had had nothing to say. However, both teams had grown quite a bit in the regular season. Both teams struggled in the first half, but Leiden eventually managed to score a touchdown with the extra point, which left the Domstedelingen behind 7-0.
