Sweden has more than 2,500 bathing sites registered with the Swedish Maritime Administration, but how many people need to share the space on beaches or in swimming pools varies from municipality to municipality.
With its 41 bathing sites in the country, Växjö has the most followed by Stockholm and Västervik, but calculated per inhabitant, the ranking will be different.
“Then large municipalities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö end up far down the list. Ydre, Vilhelmina and Laxå end up at the top with almost two bathing places per thousand inhabitants “, says Johannes Cleris, press officer at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.
