Ghislaine Maxwell is appealing the sentence of 20 years in prison for aiding and abetting the sexual exploitation of children. Maxwell’s lawyer Bobbi Sternheim has lodged an appeal with an appellate court.

It is not clear on what grounds the verdict is being appealed, but Maxwell’s defense has previously accused a jury member of being biased. The age of the girls at the time of the act has also been questioned.

The former society lion was found guilty on five of six counts of helping billionaire Jeffrey Epstein sexually exploit young girls between 1994 and 2004.
