The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise has enjoyed uninterrupted popularity for over 20 years. Whether comics, the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series or various films, the story about 16-year-old Yugi has been at home on all platforms for a long time. But all fans now have to cope with a stroke of fate. With Kazuki Takahashi’s the creator of the trading card universe died unexpectedly.
Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi has died at the age of 60
As Kotaku reports, citing the Japan Times, his body and diving equipment were found in the water near the town of Nago, Okinawa. An exact cause of death has yet to be determined. The draftsman was 60 years old.
Takahashi created the Yu-Gi-Oh manga released in 1996 and thus the basis for a huge fantasy universe. He also develops the central card game himself and was involved in the major creative decisions of the various series and films.
Takahashi’s death will come as a shock to millions of fans. The vast Yu-Gi-Oh! universe was reportedly discovered recently expanded to include a collaboration with Marvel.
