When do the remedial orals take place in 2022?
The catch-up orals began on Wednesday July 6 and will take place until Friday July 8, 2022. Are concerned: all students with a general average in the baccalaureate between 8 and 10/20. And there are a lot of them this year, since the first-time success rate is only 86% this year, compared to 90.7% in June 2021. For the vocational baccalaureate, the dates are the same, namely from July 6 to 8 for candidates with a general average higher than 8 and lower than 10/20. They can alsot pass the retakes or “control tests“if they have an average mark greater than or equal to 10 out of 20 in all the vocational baccalaureate examinations.
When are the final results of the baccalaureate, after the catch-ups?
The results of the second group (published after the remedial orals) swill be published at the end of the tests, on July 8 at the end of the afternoon, at the place of the orals, or online during the evening.
Can we get a mention after the remedial orals?
No, the mention is out of reach for all those who pass in the remedial session (it can only be obtained in the first round!), the pupils nevertheless have an additional chance of success in the baccalaureate, for which it is also necessary to prepare intensely.
Which subjects to choose for the remedial orals?
You can only choose to catch up two tests from the compulsory written tests (including the anticipated written tests) during the remedial orals of about twenty minutes. At the end, the best mark between the written test and the remedial oral is the one taken into account. The choice of these two subjects is therefore decisive in order to hope to raise one’s average. “At the end of the results of the tests of the first group, candidates choose a maximum of two courses among those corresponding to the final tests of the first group, either French, philosophy or the two specialist courses followed in the final class. The candidate takes an oral test in each of these two courses“explains the Ministry of National Education. Resit oral exams take place in the examination centers. According to the tests, the oral generally lasts 20 minutes with a preparation of 20 minutes. The examiner chooses the questions asked. “If necessary, they are drawn from a specific database, in the field of the teaching program of the discipline concerned” explains the Ministry of Education.
For the vocational baccalaureate,control test now provides a question about the following disciplines : mathematics and/or physics-chemistry and/or economics-law or economics-management and/or prevention-health-environment on the one hand, French or history-geography-moral and civic education on the other hand; and the possibility for candidates to choose the two disciplines on which they wish to be questioned. Finally, each subtest is scored out of 20 points.
“If you’re going to math or physical science, it’s better to know your formulas inside out! Also be sure to redo the subject of the subject you are going to iron“explains Isabelle Dumas. Concentrate on the program highlights, in order to revise the basics of the two chosen subjects. Focus on methodology remedial oral: this is a 15-20 minute oral with a 20-minute preparation on a subject from the year’s program. It will therefore be necessary to be concise and organized, while being precise and rigorous. Finally, do not necessarily wait for the results of the baccalaureate, if you really doubt that you have succeeded (especially since all the answers are available on the internet): better to anticipaterevise “for nothing”, and have your exam, rather than revise at the last minute and give in to panic.
No way to get to remedial oral as a dilettante! The impression you give to your examiner is decisive. “So be sure to arrive rested, relaxed and organized, but also polite and serious. You will therefore have to take with you all the tools inherent to the subject: texts if it is oral French or languages or a calculator if it is mathematics. Everything will have to be taken in a pocket. The examiner will appreciate that you are structured and organized.“advises the specialist. In addition, you can discuss your professional project during the oral, if the examiner invites you to do so. For example, if you are already accepted in a school on Parcoursup and you only need baccalaureate, the examiner will be more inclined to give you a good mark. Remember that the examiner is not there to “break” the candidate or destabilize him, but to judge his knowledge and see what he retained from the subject. Not comfortable speaking? Practice in front of your parents or big sister. Be sure to look your audience in the eye and don’t be glued to your notes. And at the end, ask them to ask you trick questions. This will train you to argue and justify your choices.
