What game is it? Hypercharge: Unboxed is a shooter that takes you back to different places from your childhood as an action figure. One example is a toy store, another a children’s room.
The shooter can be played cooperatively in teams or in PvP and is developed by a small studio called Digital Cybercherries, which consists of only five employees.
Hypercharge: Unboxed was released on Steam back in 2020, but has received renewed attention on Twitter over the past few days. A post about the game even gets over 360,000 likes.

From the toy shop to the children’s room
What is the game about? In Hypercharge: Unboxed you slip into the skin – or rather the plastic – of a toy action figure. You can even customize these visually in different ways and in a way create your own toy hero.
With the action figure embodied by you, you then throw yourself into various toy battles. You can experience one of them in online and local offline co-op. There you play with up to four players against the AI and protect your mission goal: the Hypercore.
You’ll earn XP and unlock skins to customize your action figure and weapon. You’ll also earn turrets, traps and walls, which you can use to build up your defensive position on one of 10 different maps.
The maps are all sorts of places where you can find toys. In addition to a toy shop and a children’s room, this also includes a family’s garden and the kitchen, in which the child once again left his action figures lying around.

What makes Hypercharge: Unboxes special? If we look at the reviews of Hypercharge: Unboxed on Steam, then it seems that exactly what makes the shooter special is what the trailer already makes it look like.
If you loved playing with action figures as a kid, liked the Toy Story movies, or loved going to toy stores with your parents, you might like the design of Hypercharge.
In general, the shooter impresses with the nostalgic feeling of childhood memories and the associated charm of toy shops and untidy children’s rooms.
The game feels like a trip into the past. But instead of a single-player experience, you and your friends plunge into action-packed multiplayer or co-op battles.

What are the players saying? Hypercharge: Unboxed only has 1,908 ratings on Steam (as of July 5, 2022), but 91% of them are positive. This is also reflected in the wording of the players:

How big is the interest in the shooter on Twitter? In a thread on Twitter dealing with Hypercharge: Unboxed and the developers, numerous positive impressions can be read. This thread has almost 360,000 likes and 43,000 retweets (via twitter.com) 20 hours after it was posted.
Twitter user MyNameIsLukeSR also shared a compilation of the developers with various clips of the shooter under the thread, earning 7,800 “likes” themselves.
Will the game also appear on consoles? Hypercharge: Unboxed is currently only available on PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on the Nintendo Switch.
However, the developers are already working on a version for the Xbox. A PlayStation version will follow, but no date or exact timeline is known.
