Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praises the increasingly heavy arms supplies in Western countries.
– It significantly reduces the Russian army’s offensive ability, he says in his nightly speech.
Since Russia began its major invasion in February, Ukraine has called on Western countries to provide powerful weapons. Now Zelensky announces that the heavy artillery that the Ukrainian forces have received from, among others, the United States and EU countries is beginning to be felt on the battlefield.
– Accuracy is exactly what we need. Our defenders cause significant damage to depots and other targets that are important to the occupiers’ logistics. And it significantly reduces the Russian army’s offensive capability, says the president.
– The occupants’ losses will increase with each passing week.
University destroyed
Volodymyr Zelenskyj also says in his speech late on Wednesday that a Russian robot attack destroyed large parts of a university in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city.
According to the president, the university’s main building, lecture halls, research library and museum met.
– This characterizes the Russian invasion with one hundred percent accuracy. This attack is the very definition of barbarism. Only an enemy of civilization and humanity can do such a thing, to attack a university with robots, says Zelenskyj.
Intense shelling
On Wednesday, intensive Russian artillery shelling against Slovyansk and Kramatorsk in Donetsk in southeastern Ukraine continued. Many civilians have been killed and injured.
According to Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko, the attacks are indiscriminate and targeted at residential areas and infrastructure. Kyrylenko wants to evacuate 350,000 civilians from the region to facilitate defense and save lives.
