ASTERIX AND OBELIX CANET. The next Asterix and Obelix film, with Guillaume Canet and Gilles Lellouche in the cast, is finally revealed in a first poster.

The film directed by Guillaume Canet was unveiled in a first poster this July 4, 2022, to see a little lower. The opportunity to discover Guillaume Canet as Asterix, and Gilles Lellouche in Obelix’s. The synopsis – Asterix and Obelix The Middle Kingdom does not currently have an official synopsis. Only its title informs us about the place where the action of this new film should logically take place: the Gauls should find themselves for the first time in China in a new scenario not adapted from the albums of Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. We know, however, that Guillaume Canet will play the role of Asterix while Gilles Lellouche will camp Obélix.

The filming of Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom began in the spring of 2021, after a one-year postponement due to the health crisis linked to the coronavirus. An unknown time, the release date of Guillaume Canet’s film has finally been unveiled: we will be able to discover the Chinese adventures of the irreducible Gauls on February 1, 2023.
What budget for the film?
A Variety article published on January 18 announces that Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom should have a production budget of 65 million euros. The film will also be co-produced by Chinese investors. The budget, in the nails of previous Asterix and Obelix films, should allow, as producer Alain Attal announced in the American magazine, “to build a village, to stage gigantic battles with many extras, but also to ‘have a lot of special effects and, of course, a very high-profile cast and a few cameos’.
