Electricity is the priority in the production, which started at the Dingolfing facilities, where an investment of 300 million euros was made for the 2022 BMW 7 Series.
The new generation 7 Series, which was announced to the whole world with its global launch last April, is now ready for mass production. The facility, which will start the production of the Plug-in Hybrid engine version of the car in a short time, will thus be producing the new generation with three different engines under the same roof. One of the four examples of the 2022 BMW 7 Series family produced at the Dingolfing Plant by the end of this year is targeted to be electrified. However, it is planned that approximately 50 percent of the plant’s total production will consist of purely electric cars.

The new generation 7 Series will be available in Europe for the first time with the fully electric BMW i7 xDrive60 version. This model, which offers a range of up to 625 km according to WLTP norms, has two electric motors located on the front and rear axles. Producing a total of 544 horsepower and 745 Nm of torque, the i7 xDrive60 can reach from 10 percent to 80 percent fullness in 34 minutes at the fast charging station. M760e xDrive stands out as one of the most powerful engine options in the new product range. This model with rechargeable technology produces 571 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The New 7 Series with Plug-in Hybrid engine, which is planned to be put on sale in many markets at the beginning of 2023, has the 5th generation of eDrive technology, just like the all-electric model. Thanks to this technology, the car can travel 80 km on electricity alone. The 740d xDrive diesel engine version is among the alternative engines of the New BMW 7 Series. The new BMW 7 Series models with this 300 horsepower unit are expected to take their place on the European market in the spring of 2023.
Developed on the CLAR platform, which we also know from other brands located within the BMW Group, the new 7 Series brings with it some unique developments in terms of infrastructure. The model, which uses a steel, aluminum and titanium alloy composite body, seems to have left behind the carbon touches of the previous generation. It is also among the important details that BMW shares that there is no significant decrease in weight despite this.

The vehicle also has dimensional improvements. Compared to the previous generation, we see improvements of 130 millimeters on the length side, 48 millimeters on the width side, and 51 millimeters on the height side. With these improvements, the new 7 Series, which comes with a total length of 5,391 millimeters and a height of 1,544 millimeters, will now be sold with only one option on the wheelbase side. Preferring to make an improvement between the two figures instead of the standard and long wheelbase, BMW has determined the value here as 3,215 millimeters on the LWB of the previous generation.
