France repatriated this Tuesday 35 minors and 16 mothers from camps for displaced people in Syria. This repatriation is the largest since the fall of the Islamic State organization. Samia Maktouf, lawyer for orphan children of jihadists and families of victims of attacks.
The government has so far refused to consider the repatriation of French women who have joined the ranks of the terrorist group in Syria or Iraq, believing that they should be able to be tried on the spot. For children, decisions on returning to France were made on a case-by-case basis. The children have been handed over to child welfare services and will be medically monitored. The mothers were handed over to the competent judicial authorities.
