The Finnish women’s national football team is playing in the fourth European Championship in its history. The European football championships in England will get underway on July 6. The final is scheduled for July 31.

When and where does Finland play?

Helmarit plays its first group game in Milton Keynes. The opening match on July 8 is against Spain. After that, Finland will face Denmark on July 12 and Germany on July 16.

European Championship groups

The European Football Championship has four groups and a total of 16 teams. Finland is in Group B. The opponents are really tough. All of Finland’s opponents are in the top 15 in the Fifa rankings of the international football association.

Germany is fifth, Spain seventh and Denmark fifteenth.

A block: Austria, England, Northern Ireland and Norway

Block B: Denmark, Finland, Germany and Spain

C block: Holland, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland

How could Finland continue?

In the European football championships, you can qualify for the playoffs by finishing in the top two in your group. Finland is a clear underdog in its group.

Finland was last at the European Championships in 2013, when Helmarit was left in the first group. Finland played two draws in the Games. They came against Italy and Denmark.

In the 2009 EC home games, Finland reached the quarter-finals, and in the 2005 EC debut, Finland was even in the semi-finals.
