Jakobsen, who rides for Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl and makes his debut in the Tour, defeated the Belgian Wout van Aert and the Dane Mads Pedersen in the bunch sprint. Thanks to bonus seconds, Van Aert, of the Dutch team Jumbo-Visma, takes over the yellow jersey from his compatriot Yves Lampaert. Dylan Groenewegen from Vinkeveen finished eighth. Utrecht rider Martijn Tusveld was involved in one of the many crashes, but finished 69th.
