A young boy, Will Byers, mysteriously disappears. Her friends and family go looking for her, and it is quickly revealed that her disappearance could be linked to a supernatural mystery… At the same time, a young girl on the run, Eleven, arrives in town and reveals to possess strange powers.
Stranger Things is currently streaming. Four seasons are already online on Netflix. The fifth will be the last, but its release date is not yet known. A spin-off of the series is also in preparation. Season 1 of Stranger Things was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016. Consisting of eight episodes, it introduces the characters and main plot for the first time. Here is a recap. In Hawkins (Indiana), in 1983, Will Byers, 12, mysteriously disappears. His friends, but also his family and police chief Jim Hopper, are investigating his disappearance. At the same time, a young girl with supernatural powers, Eleven, is found by Lucas, Mike and Dustin, Will’s friends. Subsequently, a teenager, Barbara, is kidnapped by a mysterious creature, the Demogorgon, and finds herself with Will in a parallel world, “the upside down world”. The Hawkins National Laboratory is indeed conducting experiments (the MKULTRA project) to open a portal to this parallel dimension, which is full of evil creatures. At the end of season 1, Will is found alive and brought back to Hawkins, unlike Barbara. Eleven sacrificed herself to save Will and kill the world. She disappears. Season 2 of Stranger Tigs is released on Netflix on October 27, 2017. This sequel has 9 episodes, the recap of which can be found below. The plot is still set in Hawkins, in 1984, a year after the events of season 1. Will has returned, but is haunted by visions of the upside down world. Meanwhile, a new student, Max, arrives in Hawkins, while the town’s lab continues to conduct secret experiments in alternate dimensions and bring creatures from the Upside Down into our world. Mike has no news from Eleven. However, the girl is alive and well and has been taken in by Hopper, who hides her from the world to protect her. During Season 2, Nancy breaks up with Steve and begins a relationship with Jonathan. Lucas grows closer to Max. Eleven eventually reunites with her friends after discovering the truth about her past and her powers. The portal is finally closed, as is Hawkins’ lab. Season 3 of Stranger Things is released on Netflix on July 4, 2019. It is composed of 8 episodes, of which here is the recap. The plot takes place in June 1985. Our heroes enjoy the summer carefree. But the rest is short-lived as Soviet scientists seek to open a portal to the Upside Down. The mind flayer and his creatures are back and take possession of Billy, Max’s brother. The latter will end up killed at the end of the season. During one of the battles, Eleven loses her powers, and Hopper sacrifices herself in order to close the portal opened by the Russian base. Once again, our heroes were able to stop the Upside Down creatures from spreading through Hawkins, but the sacrifice was very strong. The Byers family eventually take in Eleven and leave Hawkins to start a new life elsewhere. While everyone is convinced of Hopper’s death, we discover that an American prisoner is being held in a Russian prison, in Kamtchatka, where Demogorgons are kept in captivity. Season 4 of Stranger Things is released in two parts, on May 27 and July 1, 2022. It consists of nine episodes. In this season, our heroes are separated after the Battle of Starcourt, as Joyce, Will, Eleven and Jonathan have moved to California and Hopper is being held prisoner in Russia. In Hawkins, life goes on until teenagers die in horrific and supernatural circumstances.

The announcement of the release date for season 4 of Stranger Things was accompanied by the formalization of season 5. But, bad news for fans of the SF series, Netflix has confirmed that it will be the last . The release date for season 5 has not yet been made official, but the Duffer brothers have announced that the wait should be less than the previous season. They also announced that a time jump will be made between seasons 4 and 5, in order to stick more with the age of the actors, who are now over 18 years old. On the other hand, if season 5 of Stranger Things will be the last, creators Matt and Ross Duffer had confirmed to the American media that they had ideas for a possible spin-off. The project must still be submitted for validation to Netflix.
