Swedish Armand Duplantis has set a new world record of 616 in the pole vault in the Stockholm Diamond League competition.

Duplantis also holds the world record of 620 for indoor races, which he jumped at the Belgrade Hall World Championships in March 2022.

In Stockholm, the weather favored top jumpers. Most recently, Duplantis competed in the Oslo Diamond League, with heavy rain hampering performance. There were no obstacles to a new record on Thursday.

– Absolutely amazing, “Mondo” commented right after the jump.

In Stockholm, Duplantis was once again dumbly superior, as they reached the next places Christopher Nilsen and Brazil Thiago Braz fell short of the Swedish result by 23 cents.

Duplantis is a big favorite to win double gold at the World Cup and European Championships in the summer. He won the Olympics last year at the Tokyo Games.

The story was updated at 11.26pm, added pictures and the results of the top three of the competition.
