A Chatham Township man accused of attempted murder will return to court next week for a bail hearing.
Jamie Kelly, 55, appeared in a Chatham courtroom on June 29. He is facing two counts of attempted murder after an alleged shooting the night of June 11 at Shiloh Park, a year-round trailer and mobile home park near Wallaceburg.
Earlier in June, Chatham-Kent police laid an additional eight charges against Kelly, including two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of careless use of a firearm and four counts of careless storage of a firearm.
Kelly’s representative was granted a request for a bail hearing on Monday. Kelly remains in custody.
During Kelly’s appearance in court earlier this month, the court imposed an order that Kelly not communicate directly or indirectly with two specific people while in custody.
Police previously reported officers responded to Shiloh Park around 11 pm June 11 after several witnesses reported hearing gunshots from inside the park.
Officers found that a home inside the park had been shot several times with a firearm, police said.
People had been inside the home at the time of the alleged shooting, but no one suffered any physical injuries as a result, police said. A suspect was located at 1 pm June 12, arrested, charged and taken into custody, police said.
Two bullet holes could be seen in the window of a trailer in a lot on the edge of the park, near Bluewater Line. Another window in a pop-out of the trailer was also broken while police tape remained on the property.
