The government wants to tighten the rules for conditional release for those who have been convicted several times for serious crimes, reports SVT Rapport.
The proposal means that such a criminal should not be released when two thirds of the sentence has been served.
– In some cases when we are dealing with serious criminal individuals who, despite being convicted of serious crimes, still continue with their crime time and time again, then these people pose a danger to society and then we must ensure that they receive such long prison sentences. that we can actually keep them locked up for a long period, says Minister of Justice Morgan Johansson (S) to SVT.
The moderates, for their part, advocate that serious criminals be monitored for a long time up to ten years after serving their sentences. According to the party’s legal policy spokesman Johan Forssell, long-term monitoring should be seen as part of the punishment.
