Turkey demands changes in legislation from Finland and Sweden

Erdoğan said today that Sweden would have promised to extradite 73 “terrorists” to Turkey. The Swedish leadership has so far not commented on the Turkish president’s statement to the media.

According to Erdoğan, Finland and Sweden need to make changes to their legislation related to terrorism. According to the Turkish president, the changes must be made as soon as possible so that the country’s parliament can ratify the memberships.

The President of The Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö has previously stated in connection with the NATO summit that Finland is not making any changes to its legislation. Niinistö commented on the matter on Tuesday evening shortly after Finland, Sweden and Turkey had signed a memorandum of understanding in front of the cameras.
