On July 19, 2022, Destiny 2 will start the Summer Solstice event. In addition to the popular, glowing armor ornaments that Guardians can earn there every year, a few things will also change this time. MeinMMO has summarized the first leaks for you and shows what the guardians can expect in 2022 at the solstice event.
What is the Solstice Event? Every summer, it is customary in Destiny 2 to celebrate the time-limited “Solstice Event” in the European Air Zone. Traditionally, space granny Eva Levante is responsible for organizing the event and distributing tasks to the guardians.
Guardians will then not only find the tower specially decorated after logging in, but will also receive summery items to play for. Every year, the luminous ornaments of the solstice armor are in great demand here, as are the very special cosmetics that wash up on the shiny dust beach of Eververse.
In addition to these well-known details, the developer has also made small adjustments to the event, which will bring a few innovations in 2022.
This will change in 2022 at Solstice Event: In addition to the fact that the Solstice will now have to do without heroes and will only be called “Solstice”, Bungie has also planned the following changes:
Event card valid for all annual events
When the 2022 solstice has started, all players will be able to pick up the new event card from Eva Levante for the first time. The tasks that it offers should be similar to the seasonal challenges.
As long as the event is running, you have access to the respective challenges and rewards of the currently active event.

Leak shows iconic crab sparrow and prismatic armor
As already mentioned, the Solstice armor is the event highlight for many Guardians. So a few dataminers and leakers like Elliot and entitybrother, which DestinyBulletin summarizes, dug through the Destiny 2 code to give you a first look at the new armor ornaments and other items of this year’s Solstice Event 2022.
According to the leak, the armor should probably be so-called “prism sets”:

And the new Solstice Event weapon? During the 2022 Guardian Games, players could earn The Title submachine gun. The summer event, on the other hand, should offer a handgun in the typical event look. There are also a few cosmetics that Guardians can use to send their spirits on summer vacation.
On Twitter, the community, such as the player Gray, speculates whether the obvious new edition of the handgun shown could be the Sunset weapon “Better Devils”. Maybe now as a solar weapon with a 120 rate of fire?
Event Sparrow is probably a cult crab vehicle: In addition to the ghost shells and the weapon, there will of course again be thematically appropriate Summer Sparrows. On the one hand probably a new Mini-Sparrow, this time in a car-scooter look.
The highlight of this year, however, is already the leaked “Crab Sparrow”. He’s very reminiscent of the spooky Spider Sparrow from the Halloween event. Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether he can do just as cool moves.
When does Solstice 2022 start and who can participate? Bungie has already announced that the summer event in 2022 will officially start on July 19, after the weekly reset at 7 p.m.
