Then an unexpected move from the American Duplantis got to tan.
Armand Duplantis is perhaps the biggest name in athletics and there are not a few who can even come close to competing with him in pole vault. Duplantis wins pretty much every competition he enters, and has several world records in his name.
Great rivals
But the atmosphere is good between the rivals anyway, and as soon as there are big competitions, all pole vault stars are quick to show respect for each other, and it is often as if you rejoice with each other in success – rather than the other way around.
One of Duplanti’s biggest rivals is Chris Nielsen, and before the Bauhaus gala in Stockholm, which kicks off on Thursday, Duplantis and Nielsen met the media together. However, they were asked what they think about the duo using the same rod, even though they are physically very different.
Breaks out into ashes
Both Duplantis and Nielsen use rods that are 5.20 meters long, while Nielsen is larger and perhaps stronger, while Mondo is smaller and more explosive. Then Nielsen offered a completely unexpected move – which caused Duplantis to break apart from tanning, which can be seen in a clip published by Expressen.
Nielsen came all of a sudden with a real sawing – about his own body hut.
– I’m fat and he (Armand Duplantis) is good at pole vaulting, he said, which broke down a big laugh, not least with Duplantis himself.
