Armand Duplantis reveals the anxiety ahead of the World Cup – and what he fears from the audience: “Maybe bow to me”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

World Cup in the USA.
Then there is one thing that worries Armand Duplantis.
– Maybe they boar for me, the star says to Aftonbladet.

Armand Duplantis is perhaps the world’s hottest athlete right now, and there have not been many competitions in recent years that he has not won. Mondo is completely superior in pole vault, has jumped over 6 meters more than 40 (!) Times, and has several world records.

“Maybe boar out me”

And that of course makes it even more gratifying that he competes for Sweden. Duplantis grew up in the USA, but with a Swedish mother and grandparents, and it was not obvious that it would be a competitor for Sweden. But that’s how it turned out – and after that there have been several major championship golds, not least in the Olympics last summer.

But when the World Cup starts on July 15, it will take place in the USA, and it will thus be special for Duplantis. He now fears that he will be outraged by the home fans.

– Yes, we’ll see how they will be towards me. It should probably go well, but they might outdo me, he says to Aftonbladet.

“Trying not to read”

Armand Duplantis received some hatred from the USA last year when he won Olympic gold for Sweden. Some see him as a traitor.

– Yes, there were many who thought I should have jumped home the gold to the US and not to Sweden. But I try not to read too much on social media and I feel very proud to compete for Sweden. But when I’m home in the United States, it’s still the most common question I get, he says.

Armand Duplantis says, however, that he feels as much Swedish as American, and he loves life in Sweden. It also makes it easier for the World Cup to take place in Eugene, and not Louisiana, where he grew up and still spends a lot of time.

– No, to me Eugene and Oregon are not like Louisiana. It’s almost like another country. I have not competed there very much and there is no home feeling in any way.
