Heathrow will have to reduce airport taxes

Heathrow will have to reduce airport

(Finance) – The airport of London Heathrow will reduce landing fees with a progressive decline over the course of next four yearsresponding to the indications of the British aviation regulator, which in turn had received a specific request from the airlines.

British Airways has led the consortium of carriers which consider Heathrow the most expensive airport in the world.

The manager of the largest English airport had justified the increase in tariffs with the need to make new investments to improve services.

L’Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) stated that, based on official inflation forecasts, the average maximum price per passenger that airlines would pay at Heathrow would drop from the current £ 30.19 to £ 26.31 (by 2026). Previously, the regulator had stated that Heathrow could raise the price per passenger to a maximum of between 24.50 and 34.40 pounds. Heathrow had asked for the roof to be set at £ 32-43. In 2020, the fare was £ 22.

There Caa expects to reach a final decision on tariffs in the autumn.
