For Emil Ruusuvuori, Tuesday’s tennis win was the first of his career at Wimbledon.
Emil Rose Mountain defeated Japan Yoshihito Nishiokan In the opening round of the Wimbledon men’s singles, he was 6-2, 6-2, 4-6 and 6-4.
Tuesday’s victory was the first for the Finn in the grass field value tournament, when he lost in the first round last year.
– The first win in such a great tournament feels good, and I will try to take more.
The past grass season has not been the easiest for Finns. Although the semi-finals came in the ATP tournament in London, the general tournament in Mallorca ended in two rounds.
In the second round, the Dutchman will face the Finn Botic van de Zandschulpwhich is ranked 21st in the tournament.
He is a familiar resistance to Ruusuvuori, as the duo faced ‘s-Hertogenbosch on the grass three weeks ago, when the Finn was better 2-1.
– Dangerous guy. When he gets into flow mode, it’s hard to do anything himself. However, there are some dips.
Routine victory for Rose Mountain
On Tuesday, Rose Mountain was ahead of the opponent in almost every area. Among other things, the breakthroughs were listed for Helsinki residents 49–19.
The first two sets were complete control of Mount Rose, but in the third, Nishioka fought the burglary and managed to keep his own passes.
The closing lot was flat. It progressed to a 5–4 situation without breaking, but the Finn twisted the winning of the set and match with his fourth breaking ball in the playoffs.
– The first two installments were really good things to do. In the third, the concentration slackened a bit and the opponent started to play better. Fortunately, however, there was no need to go to five, Ruusuvuori summed up.
Rose Mountain was a clear pre-favorite on Tuesday, as he (49th) is more than 50th on the world list above Nishioka (101st).
Another Finn playing in Wimbledon, Harri Heliövaara will start his contract in the doubles for Britain on Wednesday Lloyd Glasspool roll. The duo face a couple born in the 21st century Hugo Gaston – Lorenzo Musetti.
