The heads of state of Sweden, Finland and Turkey concluded their meeting on Tuesday evening during the NATO meeting in Madrid.
The idea is that the negotiations between Sweden, Finland and Turkey will lead to a joint statement in which the three countries address the issues raised by Turkey – after which Turkey also gives the go-ahead to allow the negotiation process to continue.
Possibly a meeting between Erdogan and US President Joe Biden could help untie the knots. The two have spoken on the phone before their departures to Madrid.
