Leading seasons in the NHL.
Then Loui Eriksson wanted to return home to the SHL.
But according to information, the veteran was nobbed.
Loui Eriksson has not directly had any dream years behind him in North America. When he signed for the Vancouver Canucks just over eight years ago, he did so with high expectations, but it turned out to be a real downfall.
Wanted to go home to the SHL
Eriksson then came from some successful years in the Boston Bruins, but in the Canucks he did not get it right at all, and at the end of his time at the club, almost everyone agreed that it was among the worst contracts the Canucks ever signed.
Eriksson played last year for the Arizona Coyotes, but he only managed to score three goals in the entire season, and where he will play next year is still unclear. And it seems that Eriksson himself was really eager for a move back to the SHL, and the club that raised him.
Nobbed by Frölunda
According to the Frölunda site Rakapuckar.com, Eriksson was interested in a move back to Gothenburg, but was refused by Frölunda.
– We have put the squad (forwards) for now. It is the one we enter the season with. We will not add anything. We only had one place, we went on what we needed. Then people get to think what they think. If we had more places open, then… but we want to give Liam Dower Nilsson and Joel Ratkovic Berndtsson a real chance, says sports director Fredrik Sjöström to the site.
According to the site, Loui Eriksson should also have offered to play with a good salary – and also not with any requirements to play in a top chain – but Frölunda should not even have wanted to start discussions. Yesterday came the news that Frölunda is recruiting Anthony Greco, who has collected points in the AHL.
