Portman told Total Film (via Games Radar):
I exercised a lot and did the whole protein shake thing. That helped. We had to run and jump a lot and fight with hammer and sword. [Schon] it takes a lot of strength for the weight of the cloak.
Portman’s performance in preparation and filming is nothing short of impressive. This is also emphasized by Marvel boss Kevin Feige. According to him, the producers only had to change a small external detail:
