Germany is taking a big step closer to gas rationing and raising the alarm level for the country’s gas market to the second highest level. The decision is motivated by the recent restricted deliveries of natural gas from Russia. Specifically, alarm level two means an increased element of controls on gas flows in the German economy. It also opens up for reserve units that run on coal to be used to secure access to energy, according to the country’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. – It can lead to higher electricity prices throughout Europe and also in Sweden, says TV4 Nyheter’s Jona Källgren.
