The new Thor adventure is one of those MCU films that required fewer worries beforehand. Thor 4: Love and Thunder unites the working trio from the strong predecessor: director Taika Waititi, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
First enthusiastic reactions to Thor 4 with Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman
Add to that top casts like Natalie Portman, who returns as Jane Foster, and Christian Bale, who plays the villain Gorr, and none other than Russell Crowe in a major role. And then there’s that one Guest appearance by the Guardians of the Galaxy starring Chris Pratt. Yesterday the new MCU film celebrated its premiere in the USA and critics and journalists were just allowed their first impressions share on social channels.

The echo is extraordinarily good, even for an MCU film. As always, however, we would like to point out that Twitter reactions are usually more euphoric than later detailed reviews, which depict more shades of gray. (More: Will Chris Hemsworth stay in the MCU after Thor 4?)
A Perfect MCU Comedy: Thor 4 is arguably the funniest MCU movie and the best Thor movie

Thor: Love and Thunder is great fun with electrifying action and lots of good jokes (the screaming goats!) and a solid story about absent gods and our lust for love. Natalie Portman pulls off a powerful comeback and Christian Bale puts on a show as a fearsome Gorr. The best Thor movie so far!

Thor: Love And Thunder is electric! Goofy, high-energy fun with a cast full of aces rocking scene after scene. Lots of jokes (my face hurts), the threat of Christian Bale’s Gorr is scary, but what I love most is that this is a movie full of love, good vibes and lots of heart.

Thor Love And Thunder is absolutely electrifying. My favorite Thor movie of the four. Taika Waititi through and through. He’s grown up, the soundtrack rocks and there are many surprises. So much fun. Feels like the best of MCU phase 1 and phase 4 in one post. Love it. Now we move on to the reviews, which are still positive but point out a weakness of Thor 4

Thor Love And Thunder is the funniest MCU movie. The jokes are excellent and the cast exploits them. Christian Bale is terrifying as Gorr. But the story felt flat, like nothing was at stake. Not sure if this is a Thor issue or an MCU no-big-villain issue.

Thor Love And Thunder is in danger of stumbling, but he’s saved by an amazing cast, more importantly, he’s saved by a cameo by an infinitely beautiful actress.
The last two posts indicate that Thor 4 is above all a good comedy with strong individual moments. But with its focus on humor, cameos, and music, the film might have forgotten to tell a story. All in all though, Thor 4 feels like a smoothly running product from the perfectly oiled MCU machine.
You can stream all three Thor movies on Disney+*. Thor 4: Love and Thunder launches on July 6, 2022 in the cinema.
