THE BREAKFAST CLUB. Breakfast Club was released in 1985, almost 40 years ago. What happens to the main actors, Molly Ringald, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy?
[Mis à jour le 24 juin 2022 à 20h30] The Breakfast Club quickly became a cult film, marking generations of viewers since its release in 1985. This drama directed by John Hughes features five teenagers from different social backgrounds but all in detention on a Saturday. Through this “in camera”, it is a criticism of American society that is shown in this teenage film.
In the cast of Breakfast Club, we find Molly Ringwald (daddy’s girl), Judd Nelson (the bad boy), Anthony Michael Hall (the genius), Ally Sheedy (the “crazy”) and Emilio Estevez (the athlete). Since the film’s release, some have fared better in their careers than others, but none have found a role as iconic as Breakfast Club. Find out what happened to the actors of the film below.
- Molly Ringwald (Claire Standish): After Breakfast Club, however, her career took a downturn in the 1990s. She notably refused to play in Ghost, which has since become a classic. She then focuses for a few years on her life in France and then on her career on the boards in London and on Broadway. We have seen her more recently in The Kissing Booth franchise and in the role of Archie’s mother in the Riverdale series. On the private side, Molly Ringwald was married to Valery Lameignère for three years before marrying the Greek-American writer Panio Gianopoulos in a second marriage. They had three children.
- Judd Nelson (John Bender) continues to play small roles in several productions. But he has never known a role as iconic as that of bad boy John Bender in Breakfast Club. In 2017, he played Ryan Hunt in Billionaire Boys club.
- Anthony Michael Hall (Brian Johnson): After Breakfast Club, Anthony Michael Hall landed several small roles in other well-known films. We have seen him in Ferris Bueller’s Mad Day, Edward Scissorhands and even has a small role in The Dark Knight. He appears less and less over the years, but we could see him in the role of Tommy Doyle in Halloween Kills in 2021.
- Ally Sheedy (Allison Reynolds): After Breakfast Club, her career takes a hit. She admits having had to refuse roles because she refused to play a sexual object and was treated in the 1990s for an addiction to sleeping pills. She also married the nephew ofAngela Lansbury, with whom she had a child. They divorced in 2009.
- Emilio Estevez (Andy Clark) is probably the one who had the most media-followed post-Breakfast Club career. The son of Martin Sheen participated in the Young Guns and Les Petits Champions franchises. However, he disappears to return as a screenwriter and director (The Way, The Public). On the private side, he joined the Church of Scientology for a time and was married to Paula Abdul for two years in the 1990s. He also had two children from a previous relationship.
