Our Swedish golfers can have a hard time meeting the qualifying limit when many are still waiting to finish playing or go out to the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
The one who was responsible for the by far best round was Anna Nordqvist. After going the first round in three over par, Nordqvist may not have been happy – but she followed up in the best way.
On Friday’s 18 holes, there were four birdies but unfortunately also a bogey. The result still means that she is on par.
Madelene Sagström was the best of the Swedes on Thursday, one over par, but had it all the tougher in the second round. She started straight with a double bogey, never recovered and went around on 74 strokes – three over par in total. She is the second best Swede and can pass the qualifying limit.
Pernilla Lindberg and Frida Kinhult, on the other hand, will probably not be allowed to continue playing. Lindberg went around on 74 strokes and has a score of five over par, two strokes over the probable qualifying limit.
Kinhult answered for a strong second round but is still six over par, something that is not enough to pass the qualifying limit.
Linnea Johansson is the fourth and last Swede to have to pull herself up from her five over par during the opening round. With ten holes left to play on Friday, she is at a total of six over par.
South Korean Chun In-Gee remains the leader after her incomparable first round: 64 strokes, eight under par.
