Blizzard developers confirmed at a Q&A event on Reddit that Overwatch 2 will replace the first game after its release.
Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard recently held a question and answer event on Reddit with the gaming community. “What will happen to the first game when Overwatch 2 comes out?” There was a clear answer to the question. With this response, Blizzard also announced that the first game will disappear when the sequel comes out.
The first game will be history when Overwatch 2 comes out
Overwatch 2 will replace the first game when it launches on October 4. So the first game, Overwatch, will be mixed into the dusty pages of history. reddit A developer from Blizzard’s team explained this situation as follows:
“We use the term early access to indicate that this is just the beginning of many new things coming to the game. It will come out with new heroes, maps and features, but more of these will come seasonally – every 9 weeks…
When OW2 launches on October 4th, it will replace the current game.”
In fact, it was no surprise that Blizzard turned all the resources into the new game. Earlier in March, Blizzard admitted that they were focusing on Overwatch 2 and sacrificing the first game a bit.
