According to Martin, “Snow”, as the series is called, is the fourth under development at HBO, alongside “Ten thousand ships”, “Sea snake” and “The hedge knight”.
Jon Snow is one of the main characters in “Game of Thrones”. He was played by Kit Harington, and it is rumored that this is a sequel where viewers can follow the character’s fate after the final scenes in the popular fantasy series.
“Yes, it was Kit Harington who came up with the idea for us”, writes Martin, who can not say anything about the others involved but who says that the development is still in the script stage.
Martin himself has, exactly as with all other TV series in the “Game of thrones” sphere, has been involved and “Kit’s group has visited me here in Santa Fe and worked with me and my own group of fantastic, talented writers / consultants on how to hammer out the series ”.
That all four series would actually go on to production is perhaps not very likely, Martin suggests.
“I would love if it happened, but that’s not how it usually works,” he writes.
Further series, “House of the Dragon”, will be the first spin-off to actually air starting at the end of the summer. Another series with Naomi Watts, which never got an official name, was scrapped after a recorded pilot episode turned out not to measure up. The price for recording the episode should have been $ 30 million.
It was a huge pressure to get it right and I do not think it would have worked, said Robert Greenblatt, former chairman of Warner Media, in an interview.
Facts. “Game of thrones”
“Game of Thrones” is the name of HBO’s hit series that ran for eight seasons starting in 2011. Initially, the series was based on the book series “The Tale of Ice and Fire”, in which “The Battle of the Iron Throne” (“Game of Thrones” on English) is the first book. Since the book series is not finished (books six and seven are missing), the TV series had to end with the author George RR Martin sketching out how he intended the end for the TV creators.
The series that have been confirmed to be under development are as follows:
“House of the dragon”: Ten episodes have been recorded. The series premieres in August. Based on Martin’s novel “Fire & Blood” and takes place a few hundred years before the events of “Game of Thrones”.
“The sea snake”: Previously went by the name “Nine voyages” and is said to revolve around the great seafarer Corlys Velaryon. Series creator Bruno Heller is involved. Plays in time much like “House of the dragon”.
“The hedge knight”: Steven Conrad is said to be working on this spin-off which is about a gunsmith and a knight. Based on the short stories in “Tales of Dunk and Egg”, takes place 90 years before the events in “Game of thrones”.
“Ten thousand ship”: Set ten thousand years before “Game of Thrones” and revolves around Princess Nymeria. Amanda Segel is working on the script.
“Snow”: Unlike other projects, in the case of “Snow” it is rumored to be a sequel to “Game of thrones” rather than a predecessor. It is said to revolve around the character Jon Snow.
Animated TV series: At least two animated series are under development.
