Over the past month, the Kurdish issue has been at the center of Swedish NATO membership. This is after the demand from Turkish President Erdoğan that Sweden should distance itself from the Kurdish armed organization YPG and their mother party PYD. YPG which, among other things, were important in the fight against IS. Now the pressure is increasing on Sweden, not to give in to Turkey’s demands. Mazlum Abdi, commander of Syria’s democratic forces, went out in a press conference with a strong call against the Swedish government.
