With Mist Legacy, a new MMORPG started early access on Steam at the end of 2021. It focuses on turn-based combat and solo players, while avoiding a classic open world. It is scheduled to celebrate its full release in September.

What kind of game is this? Mist Legacy is a Free2Play MMORPG played in a top-down perspective and was released in Early Access on Steam in October 2021. You can expect turn-based battles in which you always fight with three characters. These can either be real players or, as in Guild Wars 1, NPCs.

However, Mist Legacy is an “old school” game. You will look in vain for modern elements such as jumping, dodging, climbing or similar.

The game world is also special, because you don’t navigate through an open world, but have a map in mind on which you select points that you want to reach. These can be quest locations, enemies, or other important locations.

    Mist Legacy Celebrating Full Release Soon – Still Enjoying Active Players on Steam

    What has been announced now? Mist Legacy has been in Early Access for almost 8 months. During this time, more than 30 content updates were released. Now the game should be ready to celebrate its official release. The four developers, who are completing the game single-handedly, give September 13, 2022 as the date.

    There should be no more “breaking changes” until the release. Instead, the developers are planning bug fixes, balance, server adjustments and general polishing. In addition, a new event will take place in the summer.

    How is Mist Legacy received? According to the developers, the game is said to have had around 46,000 testers. They expect new players when the marketing push comes to release.

    According to SteamDB, around 150 players per day are currently online in Peak at the same time. The number of players is currently very constant. Since March, the game has reached between 130 and 210 players at its peak every day.

    Mist Legacy had its highest peak of concurrent players two days after release – with 1,065 concurrent players.

  • Praise is given for the easy start, the increasing complexity, the story and the fact that you can experience almost everything solo. Also, some praise the slowness and calm that the MMORPG exudes.
  • There is criticism for the long grind, the fact that items are supposed to break quickly in battle and timers that prevent everything from being completed immediately.
  • The players also see the shop mixed. Because you need premium currency to trade with other players, to increase the inventory or to buy the fourth and fifth group place. However, these are essential in the endgame, since you cannot manage the heaviest opponents with groups of 3.
