What you need to know about the Toyota Yaris Cross

Specially designed and developed for the European market, the Yaris Cross is produced at the Toyota plant in France together with the standard Yaris. Developed on the brand’s new GA-B platform, the model promises a high level of body stiffness and a well-balanced chassis. While the rear part of the vehicle is a solid SUV with wide fenders, it is seen that the horizontally designed taillights and rear window bear traces of the Yaris family. Toyota, the new Yaris Cross model, will be offered with a choice of both all-new 3-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre hybrid engines. Using the brand’s 4th generation hybrid technology, Yaris Cross’ self-charging hybrid system includes a 1.5-liter three-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine and an electric motor. With this engine, which has 40 percent higher efficiency than a typical diesel engine, much more assertive fuel consumption and CO2 emissions come to the fore. The hybrid system in the Yaris Cross produces 116 horsepower.
