At the beginning of June, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced to us that it had sold more than 20 million PS5s, after 18 months of operation. A significant figure but late compared to the PS4, due to the shortage of components which is dragging sales down. Despite this, the Japanese manufacturer must move forward and on the hardware side, things are obviously planned. According to Tom Henderson, freelance journalist and insider in his spare time, Sony Interactive Entertainment is currently working on a new controller for its PS5, a “Pro” version that would be closer to the Xbox Elite Series controller that Microsoft has already been offering since a few years. It’s on the Try Hard Guides website that Tom Henderson reveals his scoop, stating that he was able to obtain photos of a prototype of this DualSense Pro, but that he will not publish at the request of his source to avoid being grilled in the middle. This controller, whose code name is “Hunt” at Sony, would be equipped with features well known from so-called “pro” controllers, with removable analog sticks, paddle buttons placed at the back of the controller, trigger-stoprs at the level of the adaptive triggers for even more sensations, but also of the grips which will also be removable.
On the design side, this DualSense Pro would be quite similar to the basic model and updates for the controllers will also be planned so that the whole can take advantage of these new performances. Also according to the insider journalist, Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to reveal this new controller “very soon”. Of course, we are on the lookout.
