Kalle Samoojan the road at the US Open rose on Saturday after two laps (77 + 67). After the second major tournament of his career, Finnish golfers were in a divided mood.
– The improvement of ten strokes to the second day is obviously quite. On the second day, everyone was left on the field. It was pretty much maximum performance. We did everything we could to get out of the cut after a bad start. One was missing.
United States only Collin Morikawa played a better score.
In the end, the Finn was narrowly eliminated in just one stroke from the final rounds. The final round of two was reached with a worst result of +3. Samooja’s total result after two rounds was four over a pair.
The first round as a stumbling block
Similarly, the continuation dreams at the US Open virtually crashed into the first round, in which he used 77 strokes, seven over a pair.
– When the best in the world are on the line, the field is quite difficult in all respects. I was a little brick all day. Quite impossible places were found. Then all you had to do was chip the ball back into the fairway. After that, those bogies started playing and the birds were pretty much under the rock, Samooja commented to Sport.

– It was a good fight until then. Four over would have been another worthy round, it could have turned the week into another positive. There were far too many over seven.
Aimed at the British Open
Samooja’s next main goal is the British Open starting on July 14th. Samoa has three opportunities to grab a seat to a traditional major tournament. Samoa will start aiming for a race ticket for the European Tour in Munich next week.
– During the German race, it should rise to the top 20 in the rankings, then presumably there would be a place.
After Germany, the Irish Open will be played at the turn of the month and the Scottish Open will hit the ball in the hole from 7 to 10. July.
– There are a total of six or eight places in the top spots. In all three races, a good ranking would have a place in the race.
Samoan got a taste of the major tournament at the US Open. Playing at the world’s top level motivates the 34-year-old golf professional.
– Challenges and motivations are always needed for competitions. These are pretty good carrots. Once you have that kind of experience, know why you want to get to play more of these Major tournaments. Amazing events where you can really measure your own level. It brings a lot more extra to the making.
